Virtual Novel Waifu Wants to Help File Your Taxes

If you're in the US and you're old enough to be on this site, chances are you're preparing to submit your 2022 tax return by April 18. And I'm not American, but from what I know it's a lot more difficult than it needs to be. Fortunately, a viral visual novel going around social media might be able to help.

Tax Heaven 3000 (not Tax Haven 3000, Google) is a dating sim visual novel starring a cute and perky pink-haired girl named Iris (get it?), that by its own admission "assists a player in creating a self-prepared United States federal income tax return." Seriously. You can chat with her and take her out on dates, all while learning how to file your taxes.

It's.. different, but if it helps people actually file their taxes correctly then that can only be a good thing. However, ahead of the game's intended launch on April 3, it seems it was somehow deverified and delisted on Steam for no known reason, according to developer & publisher MSCHF. But that hasn't stopped them; it's also getting a free release on Itch.io, and according to their official website there's an upcoming collector's edition that comes with an Iris body pillow cover, among other physical goodies, links to fanart and fanfiction and even a mention of an x-rated patch.

MSCHF aren't just any old VN developer. They're an art collective known for pulling viral stunts like Lil Nas X's Satan Shoes, MrBeast's Finger on the App game, and those big red boots you've probably seen a million times by now. There's a chance this whole thing is some elaborate prank, and the victims are those who gave their social security number to an anime waifu.

What do you make of Tax Heaven 3000? Would you let Iris help you with your taxes? Let us know below!
